Variable data printing: one press run, many versions, all measured

Variable data printing lets a digital press change text, images, offers or maps from one piece to the next without stopping. That makes it the production side of personalization, and it's also the cheapest way to run a real split test on paper.

This section covers how VDP jobs are set up, what data files a printer needs, where the extra cost comes from, and when a simple static card will do the job just as well. We also cover proofing, because a merge error printed 10,000 times is an expensive lesson.
